The product

How does pint printing actually work?

Our machine uses food-safe edible ink to print directly onto the foam head of any drink with a frothy top. That includes Guinness, stout, cocktails with foam, espresso martinis, coffee, and lattes. The print takes about six seconds. The ink is flavourless and doesn't change how the drink tastes.

What drinks can you print on?

Anything with a frothy or creamy head. Guinness and stout are the classics, but the same machine prints beautifully on espresso martinis, cocktails with foam, cappuccinos, lattes, hot chocolate, and Bailey's-topped drinks. Smoother drinks like lager, prosecco or wine don't work, the ink needs foam to sit on.

Is the edible ink safe? Any allergens?

Yes. The ink is flavourless and odourless. Its ingredients are water, sorbitol, food-grade glycerin and food colourants. It's vegan, gluten-free, halal and kosher, and tested to FDA, EU and SGS food-contact standards. We can email a copy of the certificate to your venue on request.

How long does each pint take to print?

Around six seconds from button press to finished pint. The bar staff pour the drink, place it into the printer's tray, tap the design they want on the touchscreen, and lift the printed pint straight back out.

How many pints can it print per hour?

Realistically about 30 to 40 pints per hour at a wedding bar, including the time guests spend choosing a design. The machine prints faster than that, but the bottleneck is people deciding what to put on their pint.

Do the prints fade or smudge before guests drink them?

No. The ink bonds into the foam within seconds and stays sharp for the lifetime of the head. A Guinness foam typically holds for 15 to 20 minutes, longer than most people take to finish a pint. The print won't smudge, run or dissolve.

Can it print on non-alcoholic drinks for kids and guests not drinking?

Yes. Anything with a frothy or creamy head works, which includes hot chocolate, cappuccinos, lattes and milk-based mocktails. Great for kids' tables at family weddings and for guests who aren't drinking alcohol.

Designs

What design file should we send you?

PNG or JPG works best, at least 1000 pixels wide, with a transparent or white background. Designs print in monochrome sepia tones on cream foam, so anything readable in a single dark colour will work well. We review every design before your event and tell you if anything needs tweaking.

How many different designs can we have at one event?

Up to six pre-loaded designs are included as standard. Your wedding monogram, your venue silhouette, your dog, your company logo, whatever you like. Need more than six? Let us know when you book and we'll fit additional designs onto the machine.

Can guests upload their own selfies at the event?

Yes. We can switch on a QR code at the bar that guests scan with their phone to upload a selfie or photo. Each upload is reviewed by an automatic filter and by your bar staff before it prints, so nothing inappropriate ends up on the foam.

Booking & cost

How much does pint printer hire cost?

Pint printer hire starts at £395 for parties, £495 for weddings, and £750 for corporate events. The exact price depends on the number of prints you want included (we offer packages at roughly 200, 400 and 600 prints) plus any extras like additional designs.

What's included in the price?

Loading up to six designs you supply onto the machine, machine hire for the duration of your event, a fresh ink cartridge good for 600+ prints, tracked DPD delivery, a pre-paid DPD return label, and full setup instructions for your venue. No hidden costs.

How does payment and cancellation work?

A £150 booking fee confirms your booking. For weddings and parties the balance is due 60 days before your event. Corporate bookings are paid upfront. The £150 booking fee is non-refundable. Cancel more than 60 days before your event and you lose only that fee, with any balance already paid refunded in full. Inside 60 days the hire fee is non-refundable. The £300 damage deposit is always returned in full on cancellation. Full details are in our terms and conditions.

What's the damage deposit?

A £300 damage deposit is held alongside your booking and refunded within seven working days of the machine arriving back to us in good condition. Cosmetic wear and tear is on us. Genuine damage or loss is deducted from the deposit.

What if our event gets postponed?

We'll move your booking to a new date at no extra cost, as long as you give us as much notice as you reasonably can. If a new date isn't workable, the standard cancellation policy applies.

How far in advance should we book?

For weddings, the sooner the better, we book up months in advance. For corporate events and parties we can sometimes turn things around in two to three weeks, but we'd always recommend reaching out as early as possible to lock in your date.

Can we hire two machines for a bigger event?

Yes. For events over 200 guests, or for long evenings where the bar runs at full pace, two machines side by side double your throughput and avoid queues. Mention it on your enquiry and we'll put a multi-machine quote together.

On the day

When does the machine arrive at the venue?

The working day before your event, usually a Friday for a Saturday wedding. We ship tracked DPD Next Day and you'll get the tracking number the moment it's on the van. We build in a full day of buffer so any courier delay still leaves the machine in good time.

Do we need to do anything technical at the venue?

Just a standard UK plug socket near the bar. The machine arrives by tracked courier the day before your event, your bar staff plug it in, and it's ready in five minutes. No operator, no training, no fuss.

How big is the machine? Will it fit on the bar?

About 34 cm wide, 27 cm deep and 41 cm tall, roughly the footprint of a small countertop microwave. It weighs 13 kg, sits flat on any bar top, and only needs access to a standard UK plug socket. It comfortably fits on the bar at every venue we've seen so far.

Can the bar staff use it without training?

Yes. A one-page setup guide is in the box. After a single test print the bar team are up and running. The interface is a small touchscreen with your designs as big tappable tiles, anyone serving drinks can use it confidently within five minutes.

Where in the UK do you cover?

The whole country. London, the Home Counties, the Midlands, the North, Scotland and Wales. The machine ships by courier, so geography is genuinely not an issue. We've shipped to weddings in remote country house venues just as easily as London corporate launches.

How do we send the machine back after the event?

A pre-paid DPD return label sits in the box. After the event, pack the machine back into the case it arrived in, attach the label to the outer box, and drop it at any of 3,500 DPD Pickup shops within two working days. That's usually a cornershop, post office or supermarket. No printing or weighing needed. Your damage deposit is refunded within seven days of the machine getting back to us.

What if it doesn't turn up, or stops working on the night?

We monitor every shipment in real time and we'll know before you do if something goes wrong. We'll call you, escalate with DPD, and have a phone and WhatsApp support line live throughout your event weekend. If anything is genuinely beyond fixing on the night, you'll get a full refund. The risk is ours, not yours.

The category

What's the difference between this and Guinness Stoutie?

Stoutie is Guinness's own in-pub feature where the bartender prints your face onto the foam at participating Guinness venues. The Pint Printers is different: we ship our machine to your event, you load whatever designs you want (monograms, logos, dates, dogs, anything), and you can print on Guinness, stout, espresso martinis, cocktails or coffee, not just Guinness. Stoutie is a Guinness-only pub feature. We're a hireable creative tool for your own event.
